This policy explains what information Splitt ("Splitt", "we", "our") collects when you use the Splitt app or website at splitt.in, including the Android app on Google Play, and what we do with it.
Splitt is built and operated by Warren Rodrigues. If anything here is unclear, contact us using the details at the bottom of this page.
Bill photos and text you submit. When you photograph a bill or paste bill text to have it read automatically, that image or text is sent to Anthropic (the company behind the Claude AI models) to extract the items and prices. We do not store your photo or the full bill text on our servers. Anthropic's parsed response is briefly logged on our server for debugging purposes only, and that log is never linked to your identity. Anthropic processes this content under its own privacy policy, available at anthropic.com/legal/privacy.
Information that stays on your device. Splitt doesn't use accounts or logins for everyday use. The following is stored only in your browser's local storage, on your own device, and is never sent to our servers:
We have no access to this information and cannot recover it if you clear your browser data.
Server logs. Each time the bill-reading feature is used, our server logs a timestamp, your IP address, whether a photo or text was submitted and whether it succeeded. These logs exist to monitor and troubleshoot the app — Splitt has no user accounts as of now, so this data isn't linked to any personal profile.
Feedback you submit. If you use the in-app feedback form, we store your message, the category you chose, your IP address, and — only if you choose to provide it — an email address or phone number so we can follow up. Contact information is optional.
What we don't collect. Splitt has no advertising or third-party analytics/tracking scripts, no persistent identifiers used to track you across sessions, and no user accounts. We never have access to your bank details, UPI PIN, or any financial credentials.
Splitt does not process, transmit, or have access to any payment. When you generate a payment QR code, Splitt builds a standard UPI payment request link using the UPI ID you typed in yourself. That link is handed off entirely to a separate UPI app already on the paying person's phone (Google Pay, PhonePe, or similar) — Splitt is never involved in, and has no visibility into, the actual transfer of money.
Server logs are retained to monitor and troubleshoot the app. If you'd like specific log entries associated with your use of the app removed, contact us and we'll delete them.
If you're located in India, the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 gives you rights over your personal data, including access, correction, erasure, and withdrawing consent. Contact us to exercise any of these.
Splitt is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from children under 13.
We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date above.
